First Accident of the Year

I got the call all mothers dread...when your child needs to be picked up and taken to the hospital because of an accident.

I was working in our warehouse for most of the morning and of course my Ben tried calling my work phone, cell phone, and eventually got through to the secretary to tell them he needed to speak to me because it was an emergency.

So there were people hunting me down and eventually my coworker Gabe figured out where I was so he grabbed my purse to bring, since he didn't want to dig for my phone. I called my husband who was on his way to urgent care with Aliyah because she was running, fell down, and got a big gash in her forhead.

Great. She needed to get stitches and all I could think about was the fact that I couldn't be there to hold her and tell her everything would be all right.

But Ben called me right before they saw the doctor, put her on the phone and she was all excited about her "owie" and needed to get it "fixed." She barely even flinched when he stitched her up as well.

Well now, that sounds just like my Aliyah. Nothing pains or phases this kid, which I am ever grateful for because when it comes to child #1, she literally freaks out about the thought of any pain.

Alex even went so far as to almost cry when she found out about Aliyah's accident, her lower lip trembling telling me - Momma, I feel bad for Aliyah. She's in a lot of pain!

I just have to steal myself for this in the future, knowing there will be a lot more trips to urgent care or the er.
